TuneTales (“the app”) is a children’s storytelling app operated by Turnalabs (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. TuneTales is designed for children ages 4–10 to use together with a parent or guardian; accounts are created and managed by adults.
Account information (provided by a parent or guardian). When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and a password. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email from that provider instead; we never see your Apple or Google password. Passwords are stored only as secure hashes by our authentication provider.
Listening activity. To sync your library across sessions, we store your favorites, story progress, achievements, story ratings, and purchase records on our servers, linked to your account.
Purchase information. Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We and our subscription-management provider (RevenueCat) receive purchase receipts and subscription status — never your payment card details, which stay with Apple.
Guest mode. You can use TuneTales without an account. In guest mode nothing is sent to our servers about you; activity stays on the device.
The child profile collected during setup — first name, age, avatar, story interests, narrator voice, and bedtime-reminder preference — is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to us. Bedtime and streak reminders are local notifications scheduled on the device; we do not use push notifications and hold no notification tokens. The optional parental PIN is stored only on the device.
No advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics, no location data, no contacts, no photos, no microphone or camera access. The app contains no ads and no social features. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children; the only child-related data (the profile above) never leaves your device.
We share data only with providers necessary to operate the app, and only for that purpose:
Our servers are hosted in the United States. If you use the app from elsewhere (including the EU/UK or Türkiye), your account data is processed there under this policy.
Account and listening data are kept while your account exists. You can permanently delete your account from Profile → Settings in the app; this immediately deletes your account and associated data from our servers. You can also email us (address below) to request deletion. Device-local data (child profile, downloads, guest activity) is removed by deleting the app.
All communication with our servers uses HTTPS. Session tokens are stored in the device Keychain. Passwords are hashed; we cannot read them.
TuneTales is intended to be set up and managed by parents or guardians. We do not require any information from a child, and the child-profile details entered during setup remain on the device. If you believe a child has provided us personal information without parental consent, contact us and we will delete it.
Depending on where you live (e.g., GDPR in the EU/UK, KVKK in Türkiye, CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Email us to exercise them; we respond within 30 days.
If we make material changes — for example, if a future version syncs child profiles to our servers — we will update this page, change the effective date, and notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
