Privacy Policy
You Cannot Install (“the app”) is a puzzle game for iPhone made by Arslan Bilecen (“I”, “me”). This policy explains what information the app uses, what is shared with the advertising partner, and the choices you have.
- There is no account, sign-up, analytics service or in-app purchase.
- Your game progress stays on your iPhone. I don’t run any servers, and I never receive your data.
- The app shows ads from Google AdMob. Google collects some device and usage information to deliver those ads, as described below.
- You decide whether ads may be personalised, through Apple’s tracking prompt and, where the law requires it, Google’s consent form.
Information stored on your device
The app saves your current level, the hints you have revealed, and a few things you did in the game that the mascot may mention later. This is stored only on your iPhone, in the app’s own storage. It is never sent to me or to anyone else, and it is deleted when you delete the app. Restarting the game from inside the app also clears your progress.
Motion sensors
Some puzzles react to shaking, tilting or turning the phone upside down. The app reads the motion sensors on your device only while those puzzles are on screen. The readings are used immediately and are not stored or shared. iOS does not ask for permission for this.
Clipboard
One puzzle has a Copy and Paste mechanic. It uses an in-game clipboard and never reads from or writes to your iPhone’s clipboard.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app shows rewarded ads, which you can choose to watch for a stronger hint, and occasional full-screen ads between levels. The ads are provided by Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC (Google Ireland Limited for users in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland).
To show ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK in the app collects and sends to Google information such as:
- device identifiers: Apple’s advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you allow tracking, and an identifier for this app on your device (IDFV);
- your IP address, which may be used to estimate your general location;
- device information such as model, operating system version, language and screen size;
- ad interactions, such as which ads were shown, tapped or closed;
- diagnostic information, such as performance data and crash logs from the ads SDK.
Google uses this information to serve ads, measure how ads perform, limit how often you see the same ad, prevent fraud and, if you allow it, show ads based on your interests. I don’t receive this information in a form that identifies you; AdMob only gives me aggregated reports. For details, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and Google’s Privacy Policy.
Your choices
Apple’s tracking prompt
When you first open the app, iOS asks whether the app may track your activity. If you choose “Ask App Not to Track”, your advertising identifier is not shared, and you will still see ads, but they won’t be based on your activity in other apps and websites. You can change this at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
If you are in a region where the law requires it, the app shows Google’s consent form before any ad is loaded, so you can choose how your data is used for advertising. You can change your choice later: tap the restart button in the game, then “Privacy settings”. If you don’t consent to personalised ads, Google may still show non-personalised or limited ads. Whenever an ad can’t be shown, the hint is given for free.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. The app itself collects no personal information. If you believe a child has used the app and you have a concern about advertising data, please contact me.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe, the UK GDPR or Turkey’s KVKK), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data, or to object to its use. Because the app keeps your progress only on your device and I don’t hold any personal data about you, you can delete everything by deleting the app. For data held by Google for advertising, you can use the choices above or contact Google through the links in its privacy policy. You are welcome to contact me with any question.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts using information differently, I will update this page and change the effective date at the top.
